Williams Field House, University of Wisconsin, Platteville Phase I in Platteville, WI
American Design, Inc. (ADI) is the design architect leading a team of consultants on this 19,200+ s.f. new building addition to the Williams Field House - Home of the Pioneers. This addition includes a new Wellness Center with aerobic area, weight areas, fitness lab and outdoor recreational offices. Reuse areas include new offices, wrestling room and video room. The design team is committed to incorporate sustainability concepts derived from the Sustainability Charrette held on campus. Though Phase I is designed to stand alone; the pre-planning included a Phase II incorporating new Aquatic Center with a NCAA pool and leisure pool, reuse areas including an updated trainer area and multipurpose gym. Additional Projects include a Bleacher Study and Outdoor Track Lighting. Cost: Phase I enumerated at $3.7M. Phase II budgeted at $12+M. EMS & Cunningham Building ADA Renovation at UW - Milwaukee in Milwaukee, WI
Phase I of this project was completed in Spring 2008. This renovation included ADA upgrades to 16 bathrooms in two campus buildings, Engineering and Math Sciences and Cunningham Hall. ADI prepared all design drawings, construction documents, managed sub-consultants and will provide construction administration work for this project. Cost: $1.3 million. Testimonial - DSF

General Mitchell International Airport – Concourse Gate Expansion in Milwaukee, WI
American Design, Inc. was heavily involved with this team of Architectural and Engineering firms working for General Mitchell International Airport (GMIA) to create a dramatic new gateway to our community. We provided architectural support in design and production. Our design and day-lighting studies in graphic and model form helped shape the building and aided in design communication with the owner. Production services included detailing the new building’s skin as well as completing the construction documents for the Temporary Concourse. Cost estimate: $38 million.

General Mitchell International Airport - Retail and Concessions Renovation in Milwaukee , WI
Following a theme developed by Architectural Alliance of Minneapolis, Consulting Retail Architects, ADI completed design development and construction documents that provide a complimentary and contemporary backdrop for new retail tenant storefronts. Cost: $800,000.

Central City Cyberschool at Parklawn Housing Development in Milwaukee, WI
American Design, Inc. ( ADI ) was the design architect for this 47,700 s.f. charter school that serves as many as 400 first to eighth-grade students in 16 classrooms. All rooms including Art, Music, Science, Library, LD and ED for specialized instruction are equipped for wireless server-based laptop delivered instruction. Administrative offices and cafetorium, with stage area and kitchen, complete the space program. The school is connected to an existing YMCA and shares gymnasium facilities. Cost: $7.5 million.

Milwaukee Public School (MPS) – Neighborhood Schools Initiative (NSI)
As part of the Milwaukee Public Schools Neighborhood Schools Initiative, ADI architectural assignments included additions to three schools – M. L. King, Jr. Elementary, Kluge Elementary and Hi-Mount Elementary. ADI’s full scope of design services extends through construction, including site observation and contract administration. For these NSI schools, ADI coordinated an effort to produce and install MPS student artwork. In addition, ADI has performed ADA compliance upgrades at over 30 MPS schools. Kosciuszko Park Pool Bathhouse in Milwaukee, WI
ADI completed the design and construction documents for this new bathhouse and pumphouse at this Milwaukee County Park Facility. This project received a Mayor’s Design Award in 1998. Cost: $2.5 million.

The Midwest Airlines Center, Milwaukee, WI

Our firm provided construction document production support on this multi-million dollar construction of a new convention center in the Milwaukee downtown business area. Our architectural staff worked closely with the D4 Associates, LLC throughout the project to meet the tight time constraints. In addition, ADI staff provided services in accounting and minority participation coordination for the design team of over 28 firms. Project costs: $170 million.

Compuware Training Center at the Tannery in Milwaukee, WI
Working with this information technology company at the Tannery Complex, ADI provided design services for the conversion of an historic tannery loft building into a unique office environment. The contemporary results provide a fitting setting for an innovative problem solving company.

L. S. Beauchamp Townhouses for the Inner City Redevelopment Corporation in Milwaukee, WI
ADI assisted the owner in developing 24 new 3-bedroom townhouse style units. In addition to design services, the scope included assistance in obtaining financing for the development, selecting the contractors, establishing a significant minority participation component and overseeing the construction of the units. Cost: $2.5 million.

Reverend Leon H. Sullivan Townhomes, Milwaukee, WI
This project consisted of the construction of 12 townhouses on various in-fill lots in the area of 2nd and Concordia Avenue in Milwaukee, WI. Each building is a new, multi-level, 3 bedroom residential unit with a detached garage and related site work. American Design assisted in finding financing for this development, selecting the contractors, establishing a significant minority participation component and overseeing the construction of the units.

Vault Toilets Statewide – Department of Natural Resources, State of Wisconsin

This unusual job included site visits to 7 State Parks to replace existing vault toilets. Vault Toilets, and their approaches, are ADA compliant for individuals with special needs. Also, the structural & exterior elements are completely constructed from pre-cast concrete and require little to no maintenance. The unique site conditions were incorporated into specific design drawings.  ADI traveled Wisconsin to meet with DNR Park Managers to represent their requirements in the design drawings.  This pilot program is projected to include over 300 vault toilet replacements throughout Wisconsin ’s State Park System. Pershing Wildlife Area Storage Building in Taylor County, WI
Construction of a 4800 drive-thru storage building with seasonal workshop was designed for the Department of Natural Resources, State of Wisconsin. The building will house equipment and supplies necessary to manage the Pershing Wildlife Area and the Diamond LakeWild Lake” property. Cost: $800,000.
